Pageant winners to visit WinterFest

Jeff Eason

This weekend at WinterFest you will no doubt see plenty of heads wearing cold weather hats such as toboggans and fleece ski caps. But don’t be too surprised if you also see a few tiaras, as well.

Winners of last weekend’s inaugural Little Miss and Little Master WinterFest Pageant will be on hand at many of the WinterFest events this weekend.

Organized by Blowing Rock resident Carolyn Marley, the pageant served as an official preliminary to the 2012 North Carolina State Pageant to be held July 12-15 at the J. E. Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir.

Winners at last weekend’s pageant included “Baby Miss” Brenna Raye Keister of Hudson, “Toddler Miss” Milyn Grace Walden of Connelly Springs, “Miniature Miss” Sevyn Emma Rose Harrold of Millers Creek,   “Toddler Mister” Roger Anthony O’Neill III of Hickory, “Little Miss” Leah Hampton of Boone  and “Junior Miss” Catherine Mae Lilly of Shelby.

The Grand Talent winner was Leah Hampton of Boone  and the Grand Majestic Overall winner was Emily Lauren Shuford of Hildebran.

Judges for the event were reigning Mrs. North Carolina Debbie Miller of Mooresville, WATA-AM radio personality John Roten and retired attorney Sherrie Hodges. The official auditor of the pageant was Michelle Ponder of Asheville.

Reigning Little Miss North Carolina Allison Stafford of Spruce Pine,   Junior Miss North Carolina Katelyn Heaton of Trinity and Little Miss North Carolina Miniature Majestic Ciera Davidson of Catawba  attended and assisted with the crowning ceremony during the pageant.
