Mrs. Gauger
June Sparks Gauger, age 75, a homemaker and seasonal resident of Blowing Rock, died Saturday, September 13.
Mrs. Gauger was born in Washington County, Tennessee and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Cocoa Beach, Florida. She loved spending summers in Blowing Rock and was an avid golfer, bridge player and former President of the North Carolina Ladies’ Golf Association.
She is survived by two step sons, Tom and Rick Gauger, a step daughter, Kathy Lindermyer and four grandchildren, Kay, David, Eliza and Paul; one sister, Sue Gaslin; one brother Robert Sparks, Jr., a niece, Traci Forbes (Barry) and their children, Milli and Luke.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Col. Paul Gauger, Jr.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, September 17 at North Brevard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wells
Mrs. Ann Dixon Wells, age 77, of 1890 Pilot Ridge Road, Blowing Rock, died Monday, September 8, 2008, at Watauga Medical Center.
Mrs. Wells was born October 15, 1930 in Greenville, North Carolina and reared in Henderson, North Carolina. After graduating from Henderson High School she attended Women’s College of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (now UNC-G). She married Dewey W. Wells, also of Henderson, in 1951, whose career in the legal profession resulted in residences in Raleigh, Rocky Mount, Ahoskie, Elizabeth City, and Winston-Salem. The couple moved in 1995 to their farm in Avery County, North Carolina.
Mrs. Wells is survived by her husband, Dewey Wells of the home; four sons, Robert E. Wells and wife Amy of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, Daniel D. Wells and wife Mary of Cary, North Carolina, Brady W. Wells and wife Jenny of Raleigh, and Jeffrey B. Wells and wife Bobbi of Stone Ridge, Virginia, one daughter, Betty W. Boyce and husband Dan of Raleigh, and three sisters, Jean Faulkner of Henderson, North Carolina, Della Tolson of Raleigh, and Frances Jones of Cary, North Carolina. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Eben Howell Dixon and Alma Cristelle Brady Dixon, two sisters, Lynette Angel, Alma Babcock, and one brother, Robert Dixon.
A memorial service for Mrs. Ann Dixon Wells was conducted Thursday morning, September 11, 2008, at 11:00 o'clock, at First Baptist Church of Blowing Rock. Officiating was the Reverend Rusty Gunther and Dr. Marshall Edwards.

Mr. Black
Mr. David Jewel Black, Sr., age 84, of 255 Willy Austin Drive, Blowing Rock, died Saturday, September 13 at his home.
Mr. Black was born December 31, 1923, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, a son of the late Jack and Gertrude Dawkins Black. He retired from Thrift Food Center in Boone as a meat cutter. He was of the Methodist faith.
Mr. Black is survived by his wife, Maude Austin Black of the home; two daughters, Carole Ann Black of Blowing Rock and Billie Hansen and husband, Chuck of Hickory and one son, David Jewel Black, Jr. of Argyle, Montana.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jack and Gertrude Dawkins Black; one sister, Betty Jean Black and one brother, Jack Black, Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Black were conducted Tuesday morning, September 15 at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating was the Rev. David Austin. Military graveside rights and interment followed in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Feinberg
Mr. Elliott L. Feinberg, age 83, of 2027 Russ Cornett Road, died Sunday, September 14, 2008, at Watauga Medical Center.
Mr. Feinberg was born October 14, 1924 in New York City, a son of the late Irving and Ann Rosenblum Feinberg. He was the retired owner of Florida Beverage Corporation and served in the United States Army during World War II.
Mr. Feinberg is survived by his wife, Judith Dash Feinberg of the home; one daughter, Lana Bernstein and husband Michael of Miami Beach, Fl; three sons, Todd G. Feinberg and wife Vivian of Coral Gables, Fl, Ian Feinberg of Denver, Co, and Marc J. Feinbert and wife Tillie of Estero, Fl; five granddaughters, Nicole, Elizabeth, Madeline, Carly Jo, and Danielle; one grandson, Lucas; tow great-grandsons, Lucas nad Elliott; one sister, Shirley Feildelman of Miami Beach, Fl, and a sister-in-law, Sonya Dash Harris of Evergreen, Co. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Milton Feildelman.
A graveside service for Mr. Elliott L. Feinberg was conducted Tuesday afternoon, September 16, 2008, at Graceland Cemetery in Miami, Florida.
