Fallen hiker rescued at Glen Burney
Blowing Rock Fire and Rescue responded to Glen Burney Falls where a hiker fell over the top of the falls and into the rocks below. The accident happened on Sunday when the hiker’s pet dog wandered of the pathway onto slick rocks and his owner, in an attempt to rescue him, slipped on the moss-covered rocks and fell over the falls. While the dog was not injured, his owner sustained head injuries, several broken bones, and possible internal injuries. He was conscious when rescue members loaded him into an ambulance to transport him to a helicopter at the Davant Athletic Field for transport to the Johnson City Trauma Center. |
