Mrs. Pruess

Mrs. Vaughdean Franklin “Dina” Pruess, 68, of Forest Ridge Drive, Boone, died Friday morning, Sept. 5, 2008, at Watauga Medical Center.

She was born April 20, 1940 in Somerset, Ky., to Goebel and Adele Gryder Franklin.

Mrs. Pruess was a co-owner and operator of the Alpine Country Store in Blowing Rock. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Roland Pruess; two sons, Greg Pruess and fiancé, Tonya Allen, and Jody Pruess and wife, Christy, all of Boone; two sisters, June Barker and husband, Don, and Jimmie Knoll and husband, Hank, all of Blowing Rock; two brothers, J. D. Franklin and wife, Maxine, of Boone and Leonard Franklin and wife, Patricia, of Candler; and five grandchildren, Chelsea, Barrett, Jalen, Paxton and Camryn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Bowdre and her brother-in-law, Carl Bowdre.

Graveside services were conducted Sunday evening at 5 o’clock at Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock, officiated by the Rev. Gordon Noble.
