Blanche A. Townsend, age 93, of  Harper Ave., Lenoir, died Thursday July 24, 2008 at Gateway Nursing Center.
She was born May 28, 1915 in Lee County, Va., to the late Daniel G. and Emily Campbell Arnette.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Townsend; seven brothers and three sisters.
  Mrs. Townsend was a member of Boone Fork Baptist Church in Blowing Rock.
  Survivors include one sister Mrs. Edith Smith of Detroit, Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
 Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 1, 2008 at Boone Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Blowing Rock conducted by Rev. Darrell Miller.
 Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
