The new United Community Bank is now a familiar name in and around Blowing Rock, having opened their offices here over a year ago. However this spring they moved to their beautiful new banking center on Valley Boulevard and just over a week ago hosted a grand opening ribbon cutting to make everything official. Now a permanent fixture in the financial and community life of the village and region, United Community Bank how only had an impressive list of dignitaries on hand, from corporate to elected officials, but they also had what branch manager Mayor J.B. Lawrence called the most valued VIPs of them all, the citizens who the bank and its staff are there to serve. That is Mayor Lawrence above with the big scissors cutting the ribbon as looking on and assisting were (left to right) Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce President Bill Hall, N.C. House member Rep. Cullie Tarleton, and the rest of the bank’s congenial staff, Lindsey Yates, Gwyn Barfoot, Heather Welch, Susan Graham and Melyssa Nayao. The ribbon cutting followed welcoming remarks from corporate officers John Goins, President and Chief Operations Officer of Administration of N.C, (left) and (right) Bob Moore, Executive Vice President and Regional Manager. A full house of welcoming citizens also enjoyed delicious refreshments and a familiarization tour of the bank and introduction to its staff and services. The new bank is located on South Valley Boulevard, across from the new Emergency Services complex.
