Warm weather over the entire eastern United States continued at Grandfather Mountain this weekend and today pushing the number of consecutive days with record temperatures to six.
  A high temperature of 80 degrees recorded Saturday, June 7 broke the previous record for that day of 76 degrees set in 1988.
The warm trend continued June 8 when a high of 78 degrees was recorded breaking the previous record of 76 degrees set for that day in 1988.
  The high temperature today of 82 degrees broke the previous record of 78 degrees set for the ninth day in June in 1963.
 This temperature also breaks the record for the highest temperature ever recorded in the month of June.  Until June 9 the record was 81 degrees which was set on the previous Friday.
This weekend came after an already warm week that broke three records.
A high of 81 degrees broke the previous record for June 6 of 75 degrees set in 1971.
This broke the previous record for the warmest June temperature.  Until June 6 a high temperature had never reached past 80 degrees during the sixth month.
The high temperature reading of 80 degrees June 5 broke the daily high temperature record of 75 degrees set in 1985 and tied in 2002.
A warm 79 degrees recorded June 4 broke the daily high temperature record of 74 degrees set in 2002.
The all time highest temperature ever recorded at the official US Weather Service reporting station located next to the Mile High Swinging Bridge on Grandfather Mountain was 83 degrees set August 22, 1983 and again on June 26, 2005.
