
Woodcarver’s Shop Changes Location On Grandfather Mountain
A whole new window of opportunity has opened for Tom Wolfe, the preeminent character carver whose shop has been located in the Visitors Center next to Grandfather Mountain’s Mile High Swinging Bridge for several years. Because the 1960s-era Top Shop was demolished this spring to make room for the construction of a new Visitors Center, Wolfe’s craft shop was packed up and moved to a new location near the base of the mountain.

Liz Murray To Visit Here On Thursday, June 5
On Thursday, June 5, the Appalachian Women’s Fund is hosting its inaugural Women of Vision event featuring Liz Murray. The day will begin at the Hayes Performing Arts Center in Blowing Rock where the award-winning movie “Homeless to Harvard” will be shown. This movie depicts the true-life story of Liz Murray as she struggles to survive as a homeless teen. She overcomes adversity and all odds to achieve an education from Harvard University.
