Mrs. Williams

Mary Beatrice Powell Williams (May) (1922-2008), daughter of William George Powell and Jessie Powell, youngest sister of Walter, Ernest, and Joe, passed away peacefully in her home in Rougemont, North Carolina, April 12, 2008. She was a former resident of Blowing Rock.
May is survived by her daughter Mary Diane Williams Garber and her son in law Lawrence Lowell Garber, Jr., her nieces Dorothy McMeekin, Brenda Dickau, and her nephews Gordon Powell, Kenneth Powell, Robert Parker and their children.
May was married to Geoffrey Vaughan Williams from 1939 until his death in 1984.
May and Geoff were members of Grace Church and St. Paul’s Anglican Church Lachine for many years. They both participated in amateur theatre with the Grace Church Players and May was a soprano soloist with Grace Church and St. Paul’s choirs.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 3rd at 3:00 pm at St. Mary of the Hills, Blowing Rock, N.C. and Tuesday, July 22nd at 11:00 am St. Paul’s, Lachine, Quebec.
Memorials may be considered to St. Paul’s, St. Mary of the Hills, High Country Hospice, Watauga Medical Center.
