Mission To The Shenandoah

The Blowing Rock Historical Society is working closely with BRAHM to determine exactly how to represent and celebrate the village’s historic legacy within the new Museum. The joint History Committee has been meeting for a number of months to determine how best to portray the town’s rich and storied history. Among the areas to be considered are the welcome/orientation video, an historical timeline of Blowing Rock and history-related exhibits and displays which will offer new and stimulating information to the Museum’s guests.

Help Make Our Village Beautiful

This year citizens have an opportunity to help make our village even more beautiful. The Blowing Rock Appearance Advisory Commission (BRAAC) is offering the opportunity to “purchase” a planted basket to hang on one of the lamposts along Blowing Rock’s Main Street. “The cost is $50 and you can honor a loved one, friend, foe or in memory of someone special,” said BRAAC volunteer and board member Virginia Jones. “We’re also asking The Blowing Rocket to run an article recognizing those who donate to this special project, and list those who are being honored.

Blowing Rock Joins State Health Plan


The Blowing Rock Town Council voted unanimously this week to participate in the same health insurance plan that covers employees at Appalachian State University and other state agencies. The move was made following approval by the N.C. General Assembly during its last legislative session.

Blowing Rock Stage Company Hosts 1st Annual DramaFest, An All-day Celebration Of Theatre

Salute the power of theatre with the Blowing Rock Stage Company when it hosts on May 3 its first annual DramaFest, an all-day celebration of the many aspects of theatre for children and young adults. This free, family-centric event, which begins at 10am, will take place at the Stage Company’s home, the Mariam & Robert Hayes Performing Arts Center, 152 Jamie Fort Road (off Hwy. 321) in Blowing Rock.
