All great meals should be toasted with a great glass of wine. So it only makes sense that the upcoming Blue Ridge Wine Festival should begin with an event that will give local and visiting wine lovers a chance to sip some superb wines and taste some scrumptious hors d’oeuvres.
The Blue Ridge Wine Festival’s “Uncork” the Festival party will be held at Crippen’s Country Inn in Blowing Rock on Thursday, April 10, from 6 to 9 p.m. The event, hosted by Davis Imports, will feature a wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres prepared by Crippen’s executive chef James Welch, live music and a raffle for a ruby, diamond and black diamond pendant.

The wines at “Uncork” the Festival will be a selection of Argentine wines from the Davis Imports collection.
“The Wine Festival committee works hard all year long to produce this four-day event and we are thrilled to have Davis Imports providing our kick-off party with a wonderful selection of wines,” said Crystal Owens, coordinator for the event. “The wines will be accompanied by the Argentine winemakers themselves.”
The live music will be provided by Dark Side of the Boone, a local rock and roll cover band specializing in the songs of the classic rock band Pink Floyd.
“One of the highlights of the night will be the raffling off of the exquisite ruby and diamond pendant that was provided to us for the event by Gems by Gemini,” said Owens. “This necklace is one of the most gorgeous pieces of jewelry I’ve ever seen and will be treasured by the winner for many years to come.”
Owens added that raffle tickets for the event are extremely limited and selling fast. The winning ticket holder need not be present to win. Raffle Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25 and are available at the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce, Wachovia Bank of Blowing Rock, and at the office of The Blowing Rocket on Sunset Drive.

The Blue Ridge Wine Festival will be held in Blowing Rock from Thursday, April 10th through Sunday, April 13th.
