
Chalk up Another Big Win for Blowing Rock
Ken Cham thought he would settle into retirement after a long sales career, but instead found himself as an award-winner in the travel industry.
Cham, an employee in the Blowing Rock Visitor Center, recently received the North Carolina Travel Industry Association Silver Service Award for Exceptional Visitor Service. Cham, who was nominated for the award in a statewide competition by Blowing Rock Tourism Development Authority Executive Director Tracy Brown, received the award at the N.C. Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Winston-Salem two weeks ago.

UnCork The Festival To Be Amazing Kick-Off Event For Wine Festival
The Blue Ridge Wine Festival’s “Uncork” the Festival party will be held at Crippen’s Country Inn in Blowing Rock on Thursday, April 10, from 6 to 9 p.m. The event, hosted by Davis Imports, will feature a wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres prepared by Crippen’s executive chef James Welch, live music and a raffle for a ruby, diamond and black diamond pendant.

Town Moves To Voluntary Water Restriction
Due to recent rainfall and improved water reservoir conditions, the Town of Blowing Rock has temporarily eased water restrictions to allow citizens to complete necessary projects that require the use of public water. Town officials will continue to monitor the town water supply and related drought, and make water restriction decisions as conditions warrant. The Town will at minimum reevaluate the water supply conditions at their April 8, 2008 regular meeting.
