Julie Richardson Joins Historic Outdoor Drama Horn In The West As It’s New Artistic Director

Despite rumors to the contrary, the show will go on at Horn in the West this summer. The Horn and the Southern Appalachian Historical Association (SAHA) are working in collaboration with the town of Boone to ensure that overdue physical repairs to the outdoor drama’s facilities take place before opening night this summer.

Local Artists Fumero & Cohen To Be Honored At Center In Aiken, S.C.

Two well-known local artists are being featured in a Spring Gallery Exhibition at the Aiken Center for the Arts (ACA) in Aiken, South Carolina during the month of March. Parkway Announces Closure Due to Slide At Craggy Gardens


In an announcement today, Superintendent Phil Francis, said that the concerns are growing for the structural integrity of the road just south of the Craggy Garden Visitors Center (Milepost 364.5).
Due to unstable road conditions associated with the retaining wall failure at the steep slope across the road from Craggy Gardens Visitor Center, Parkway officials are implementing an area closure to all traffic, not only vehicles, but bicycle and foot traffic as well.

February At Grandfather Mountain Brings Warm And Dry Weather

The weather data from the month of February recorded at the official US Weather Service reporting station located next to Grandfather Mountain’s Mile High Swinging Bridge shows temperatures charting higher than normal and rainfall coming up short.
