Young At Heart Classes A Big Success At Blowing Rock School This Winter

One Monday a month, all of the kindergarten, first and second grade students as well as their teachers look forward to a very special occasion. Mrs. Pollard and Mrs. Seagal’s kindergarteners, Ms. Searcy and Mrs. O’Bryant’s first graders and Mrs. Felts and Mrs. McGuire’s second graders approach the day with great anticipation.
What is the cause of all this excitement? It’s the “Young at Art” classes sponsored by volunteers from the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum!

Blowing Rock School’s Students Are Touched By Operation: Mama Gaye

On Wednesday, February 6, 2008, Blowing Rock School got a huge surprise…a free book for every student in the school—Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. “When our secretary Mary Lentz told me that morning that a benefactor wanted to purchase a book for every child in the school, I couldn’t believe it,” said the school’s media specialist, Kathy Moore. “It just so happened that we were having a small book fair that week along with a PTO-sponsored family fun night featuring a spaghetti supper and bingo. However, it turned out to be much bigger than we had anticipated.”

Parkway Craft Center to Open Saturday March 15

On March 15th, Parkway Craft Center, located at Milepost 294 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, will open its doors to begin the 57th season at Moses Cone Manor. Visitors enjoy a marriage of spectacular views, Georgian Revival architecture and stunning handmade crafts at the Manor House.

Caribbean Cowboys Headline February 29th Beach Party

About this time of year normal, hardworking people unexpectedly find themselves daydreaming about sunshine, warmth, and tropical blue water.
