Town Still In Stage 3 Water Crisis

Despite considerable rainfall over the past several weeks, the Town of Blowing Rock has not lifted the ban on restricted water use. Citizens remain under a Stage 3 Crisis Alert, which means that restrictions are still in place.
Those restrictions prohibit outdoor watering, washing cars and other excessive use of water.
Blowing Rock’s reservoir supply is greatly improved since the critical shortage this past fall, but the town still considers itself in a recovery mode.
Adding to the problem is the fire dangers that continues to exist all around the High Country. Emergency service agencies say that what little rain has fallen has been quickly lost because of excessive high winds that dry out the ground in a matter of hours. A burning ban remains in place statewide.
The Town is continuing their efforts to solve the water shortage problem on a long term basis, but are encouraging citizens to continue moderation practices.
