Blowing Rock Named As Having “Best Cool Summer Weather”

Blowing Rock has been named as one of three mountain towns with the “Best Cool Summer Weather” in the Mountain Homes, Southern Style’s elite 2008 Best of the Mountains list and is featured in the magazine’s Winter 2008 Annual Guide issue, available at area newsstands. Blowing Rock received this honor because the cool summer weather brings residents out for, “unique attractions and quaint shops as stunning as the surrounding mountain views.” Now in its fifth year, Mountain Homes focuses on upscale communities in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Maryland, Georgia, and Alabama. Speckled Trout Cafe Wall Collapses Under Minor Impact From Automobile; Restaurant Is Closed

The catch of the day Sunday at the Speckled Trout Cafe on Blowing Rock’s North Main Street was a full-size Ford Bronco.
Chih Jen, age 70, of Boone, was attempting to park beside the popular restaurant, located at the U.S. 221 intersection. In maneuvering his vehicle into position he struck the building causing the wall on the south side to collapse.
