Students looking for financial assistance to continue their college education have only until February 8th to obtain, complete and return applications.
The awarding of a number of scholarship is in keeping with the mission statement of the Foundation which has a strong record of success.
The Blowing Rock Community Foundation is providing four $1,000 scholarships, as well as one scholarship (the Stevens Scholarship) for up to $10,000 to honor Blowing Rock students attending institutions of higher education - community college, technical school or two/four year colleges and universities.
Criteria for applying for funding assistance states the applicant must enroll in a technical school, or college or university; must have lived and continue to live in the Blowing Rock School District, must have attended Watauga High for a minimum of 2 years, must have a grade point average of 2.5 or better, and must submit an application which includes a statement of goals, academic and extracurricular activities and the need for financial assistance.
Applications may be obtained from the Guidance Office at Watauga High School or from Blowing Rock Town Hall.
