Mrs. Rose

Mrs. Rachel Garrison Rose, age 93, of Blowing Rock, formerly of Charlotte, died Wednesday afternoon, January 9, 2008, at Watauga Medical Center.
Mrs. Rose was born September 22, 1914 in Mecklenburg County, the youngest child of the late Harvey Edgar and Minford Marshall Garrison.
She graduated from Charlotte Technical High School, and after business school, she was employed by Southern Bell. After 24 years, Mrs. Rose retired from Pennwalt Corporation in 1978. She then moved to Blowing Rock where she was a part-time secretary for a local CPA.
Mrs. Rose was a member and past treasurer of the Daniel Boone Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blowing Rock, where she was an elder and treasurer of the Women of the Church. Mrs. Rose was an honorary life member of the Presbyterian Women, and past president and treasurer of the Blowing Rock Community Club.
She was a member of the Blowing Rock Historical Society, and was Blowing Rock Woman of the Year in 1996.
Mrs. Rose is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Zepeda and husband Gary of Charlotte; two grandsons, Gary Zepeda, II and David Zepeda, both of Charlotte, and one great-granddaughter, KenLee Zepeda of Charlotte. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bennett Rose; one grandson, Kevin Zepeda; three sisters, and one brother.
A memorial service for Mrs. Rachel Garrison Rose was conducted Saturday afternoon, January 12, 2008, at Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church. Officiating were the Reverend Charlie Landreth and Dr. Charles Carter.
