Blowing Rock at 40,000 Feet? It may seem high but that’s where potential visitors will read all about the High Country’s favorite little village. The January issue of US Airways Magazine (formerly Attaché) focuses on Blowing Rock and Boone in its’ Profile section.
“This is a major get for us all in the High Country” says Blowing Rock TDA Director Tracy Brown. “The magazine will sit on the airplanes for the month of January and be seen by nearly 6 million people. We’re thrilled with the opportunity to showcase our area to so many potential visitors” Brown continued.
The 34 page spread was originally scheduled to be only 12 pages but grew nearly three times because, according to Brown, “there is so much to talk about here.” Economics and the strength of small business in the area was a start but when the writers started digging, they just couldn’t help themselves. “What’s really great is that this article doesn’t just focus on Tourism or Business, Healthcare or Education. It looked at our entire area and all of our offerings and then they wrote a great article.” Brown jokingly admits “If I was on a plane from Cincinnati back to Charlotte and I read the article, my next phone call would be to a Realtor because I would want to live right where they’re talking about.”
The editors of US Airways Magazine are planning to have a reception in January to celebrate the successful article.
