Mr. Greene
Mr. Romy W. Greene, age 91, of 9338 Blackberry Road, Lenoir, died Friday afternoon, January 26, 2007, at Watauga Medical Center.
Mr. Greene was born May 13, 1915 in Watauga County, a son of the late Horace and Lutisha Ford Greene. He retired from Broyhill Furniture in Lenoir, and was a member of Laurel Fork Baptist Church.
Mr. Greene is survived by four sons, Gaither Greene and wife Judy of Boone, Jim Greene and wife Freda of Lenoir, Dallas Greene and wife Nellie of Boone, and Ricky Greene and wife Leta of Lenoir, one sister Rhoda Ford of Boone. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, four step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hartley Greene; one great-granddaughter, Hannah Greene; three sisters, Oda Ford, Ona Story, and an infant sister, and three brothers, Murray, Grady, and Roy Greene.
Funeral services for Mr. Romy W. Greene were conducted Monday afternoon, January 29, 2007, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel in Boone. Officiating was Dr. Dan Featherstone and the Reverend Dean Coffey. Interment followed in Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens.
Hampton Funeral Service of Boone was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Storie
Stacey Wade Storie, age 79, of Baird’s Creek Road, Vilas, died Wednesday, January 24 at Watauga Medical Center in Boone.
Mr. Story was born November 4, 1927 in Watauga County, a son of Roby and Elizah Hampton Storie. He was a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church.
He retired from the Appalachian State University Physical Plant and was a skilled carpenter.
Mr. Storie is survived by his wife, Inez Berry Storie; and one brother, Stanley Storie and wife Mina Jo of Boone. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was precede4d in death by two brothers, Stanford and Romey Storie and four sisters, Bina Teague, Julie Reed, Verlee Teague and Mamie Belle Storie.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, January 27 at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel in Boone. Officiating will be the Rev. Wynn Greer, Rev. Burl Greer and Rev. Carl Wilson. Interment followed at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.

Mrs. Carter
Mrs. Effie “Jay” Andrews Carter, age 79, of Chestnut Drive, Blowing Rock, died Friday evening, January 26 at Blowing Rock Hospital.
Born in Blowing Rock on September 14, 1927, Mrs. Carter was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by two sons: Mike Carter, and wife Liz and Doug Carter and wife Melba, all of Boone; one granddaughter, Teresa Luttrell, and husband Tim of Avery County; two grandsons, Joe Carter and David Carter and wife Tiffany, all of Boone; one step grandson, Thomas Church; three great granddaughters, Amanda and Abby Luttrell and Jaelun Carters; one great grandson, Cody Lutrell; one sister, Jean Greene of Swansboro, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Carter; three brothers, Dale, Ben and Bill Andrews, and one sister, Mazie Lee Teague.
Funeral services for Mrs. Carter were conducted on Monday, January 29 at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel in Boone. Officiating was the Rev. Morris Hatten. Interment followed in the Cool Springs Cemetery.
