Grandfather Mountain Loses Nola From Their Family Of Otters

Nola the otter passed away May 24 after a sudden illness.  The habitat staff at Grandfather Mountain noticed the otter wasn’t feeling well and took her to the veterinarian the day before.

Methodist Church Begins Services

One of Blowing Rock’s most historic churches will celebrate their 107th year of seasonal worship when services resume on Sunday, June 3. Blowing Rock Methodist Church, on South Main, will host residents and visitors with a number of special services and events that have become part of the church’s rich tradition. Leading the congregation for the fourth consecutive year as Resident Minister will be Dr. Hal Warlick, Dean of the Chapel at High Point University.

Parkway Couple Incarnate Moses & Bertha Cone’s Apples In “Denim and Cider” Prior To BRSC’s June 2nd Performance Of Moses Cone Musical

Thirteen years a go, Diane Flynt, (Chuck’s wife) began setting her sites for a new and hard cider orchard in Floyd County, Virginia – just off the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Thirteen years, fifteen acres and 1,000 trees later, Foggy Ridge Cider has produced its first blend of its artisan made hard cider, made available to the public only this past Memorial Day weekend.

New Appalahcian State University Internship Program Focuses On The Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, in coordination with Appalachian State University, is pleased to announce Amy Renfranz as an intern working this summer on a historic resource survey at Camp Catawba. The camp’s grounds, including its near century-old chestnut lodge, are bounded by the Blue Ridge Parkway on one side and the Moses H. Cone Memorial Park on the other.
