Tweetsie Will Team With Thomas The Tank Engine For June Trips

Peep! Peep! Thomas the Tank Engine is set to roll into Blowing Rock for the Day Out With Thomas 2007: All Aboard Tour. The event, which takes place June 1 – June 10, will be hosted by Tweetsie Railroad, www.tweetsie.com, located in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains on US Highway 321 between Boone and Blowing Rock.

Acting Officers Of Community Club Say Election Will Be On June 13th

In a statement released this week by acting President of the Blowing Rock Community Club, an election that was thought to be scheduled for June 5th has been set for June 13th. Winnie Donato, who assumed the president's seat when disagreement about by-laws, library operations and club financing split the membership a number of weeks ago, made the announcement in a statement provided to the Rocket on Tuesday morning.

Choral Evensong At St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church On May 27th

The choir of St Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church will sing  evensong of the year this coming Sunday, 27 May, at 5.00 PM in the nave of the church. Service music will include settings of the Magnificat and Nunc dimittis by T. Tertius Noble, as well as the Preces and Responses as set by contemporary British composer Richard Shephard. The introit is 'If ye love me" by Thomas Tallis, and the anthem is 'I will not leave you comfortless' by William Byrd.

Shoplifting Suspect Is Apprehended By Blowing Rock Police, Video Surveillance

Blowing Rock Police, shop owners and a lot of help from the latest electronic technology led to the arrest of a Hickory man on a major shoplifting case in Blowing Rock and opened the door to the possibility of helping solve a number of other cases from Watauga to Catawba County.
