Ms Abell

Vel Pierce Abell, age 64, of Robin Lane, Boone, died Wednesday evening, April 4, 2007, at Watauga Medical Center in Boone.
Ms. Abell was born March 19, 1943 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, a daughter of the late James Calvin and Mary Louise Crank Pierce. She was a retired legal confidential secretary for the state of Virginia.
Ms. Abell is survived by one daughter, Amanda Knighten; one son, Trey Pierce; one grandson, Pierce Knighten, and one granddaughter, Olivia Shepherd, all of Blowing Rock. She is also survived by five sisters, three brothers, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 5315 Greenbrook Drive, Charlotte, NC, 28205.
Hampton Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Gibson

Mr. Fritz D. Gibson, Jr., age 80, of Blowing Rock, died Sunday, April 1, 2007, at Blowing Rock Hospital.
Mr. Gibson was born October 20, 1926 in Mecklenburg County, a son of the late Fritz Gibson, Sr. and Jane Francis O’brien-Gibson. He was retired from an administrative position with the State of Florida in Dade County.
Mr. Gibson is survived by one son, John Tracy Gibson; one step-daughter, Lisa Crane of Boone, and one sister, Faith Gibson Groome of Sanford.He is also survived by two nieces and one nephew.
A private memorial service will be at a later date.
Hampton Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Myers

Suzanne Paula Myers, age 52, of Sebring, Fl, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2007, in Sebring.
She was born December 14, 1954, to Burdette Orin and Bonnie Jean (Solberg) Myers, in Woodruff, Wis., and had been a resident of Sebring since 1975. She was an Antiques and Furniture Broker and of the Lutheran faith. She is survived by her sons, Mark Burdette Chapman, Jacksonville, Fla., Derek Chapman, Sebring, and Matthew Chapman, Honduras; daughters, Sarah Pickering, Sebring, and Kelsey Chapman, Sebring; father, Burdette O. Myers, Avon Park; stepmother, Mary A. Myers, N.C.; sisters, Charlene Edwards, Avon Park, and Katricia (Tim) Phillips, N.C.; brothers, George (LeeAnn) Myers, N.C., Richard McDonald, Charleston, S.C.; Burt (Yvonne) Myers, N.C., Mike McDonald, N.C., Chris (Marina) McDonald , N.C., Dennis (Suzanne) Myers, Utah, Greg (Lynn) McDonald, N.C.; Dwayne (Madeline) Myers, N.C., and Ben (Michelle) Myers, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the New Testament Church and Mission, Sebring, Rev. Mike Karl officiating.
