Applications For Public Preschool Program For 2007-08 Will Be Available Monday, April 2nd

The Watauga County Schools preschool program will begin accepting applications for the 2007-2008 school year on Monday, April 2. The preschool program provides high quality early childhood education to four year olds during regular school hours.
Children in the program must be 4 years old on or before October 16 and must be residents of Watauga County.
One preschool classroom is available at each of the seven schools, Bethel, Cove Creek, Green Valley, Hardin Park, Mabel, Parkway and Blowing Rock. Although a preschool class is not available at Valle Crucis Elementary at this time, funding is being pursued to add a preschool class for the 2007-08 school year and preschool applications are available at that school.
Application forms are available at all the elementary schools in Watauga County and at the Gragg Educational Center. Applications must be received by Monday, April 30. For applications or additional information, contact the school office in any elementary school or call Janice Hensley at 264-7190.
Applications are available at Blowing Rock School’s Morris Street campus, from the Administration office near the main entrance.
Each preschool classroom has a teacher and a teacher assistant and can serve up to 18 children. Each preschool teacher has at least a bachelor’s degree with Birth-Kindergarten certification, and all preschool classrooms have achieved a 4 or 5 star license on the star rated child care licensing system of the North Carolina Division of Child Development.
There is no charge for the program. After school care is not available for children in the preschool program.
