Two new classes will be offered this spring.  An adult acting class (“Tea and Sympathy”)
will be offered on Tuesday evenings. This class will focus on scene study and a look at classic plays and playwrights. No experience is necessary.  For ages 18- 55.
Also added is a class just for seniors, ages 55 and up to be held on Thursday mornings (11:00am-12:15pm) The class called “Making Waves” will allow seniors to recreate the radio drama, complete with music and sound effects. WATA radio in Boone will broadcast the drama at the conclusion of the six weeks.
TOPs Director Kim Cozort Kay states,” We have been anticipating the opportunity to offer quality programming for theatre in its home environment, a real state of the art facility.  We can now offer classes in acting, dance, music and film studies for students and adults year round.  The winter classes continue with classes in beginning, intermediate and advanced acting classes.  Our classes for ages 5-7 will incorporate Letterland studies (a phonics/storytelling program utilized in Watauga County) and the classes for ages 8-10 will create skits based on stories and books students use in their classroom studies.  We feel we can enhance through theatre what students are already doing in schools to aid in their learning process. These classes enhance literacy and social skills as well as empowering students’ confidence in presentation situations.”
Kay adds, “The two new classes will allow us to serve more of the population in the High Country. They are fun ways to socialize and appreciate the craft of theatre at the same time. “
Students who participate in the theatre classes are eligible for an invitation to be a part of the TOPs Troupe.  These students share material they have learned in class with civic, school and religious groups throughout the community.
Tuition waivers are available for students thanks to a generous grant from United Community Band. Please call the Stage Company at 295-9168 for registration and class time information or log on to our website at www.blowingrockstage.com to download tuition waiver forms.
Registration and tuition forms are also available in the Watauga County Schools through TOPs contact teachers.
