Patty Wheeler Named To Blue Ridge Electric Foundation Board Post
Patty Wheeler of Blowing Rock has been named Community Foundation Manager at blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation, it was announced this week by Renee Whitener, Director of Public Relations.
Wheeler will help manage the Blue Ridge Electric Members Foundation, Inc. which is designed to generate funds for key, quality of life projects in our local communities. In that role, she will also work with the Foundation’s Advisory Committee, which is made up of member representatives from the cooperative.
Wheeler will also be involved in Operation Round Up, a new community benefit program that expands the cooperative’s BREMCare program designed to provide assistance to members needing financial help for winter electric bills. With increased member support, Operation RoundUp will be able to provide increasing community support by funding projects that provide critical programs and services to local communities served by the cooperative.
“After an extensive search, I’m pleased that Patty has been selected to fill this unique position,” said Grey Scheer, Blue Ridge Electric’s director of community relations. “Patty bring an incredible balance of experience, interest, and success having worked in the areas of fundraising and advisory boards with ASU and communications with electric cooperatives.”
While Wheeler’s responsibilities represent all Blue Ridge Electric districts, she is based in Blue Ridge Electric’s Watauga offices.
Wheeler, the former owner of Skyland Books and Chickory Suite on Main Street, reside in Blowing Rock.
