Tucker'sOn Main
Former Skyland Books Reopening Under New Ownership; Face Lift And Expansion Will Greet Public For Grand Opening Over Weekend

Virginia D. Jones and Page W. Parsons have recently opened Tucker’s on Main, Inc. in Blowing Rock’s Martin House Courtyard and invite the community to its Grand Opening this weekend during Blowing Rock’s Winterfest festival.
Formerly Skyland Books and Chicory Coffee, the historic building has had a face lift by its new owners, expanded its book and beverage offerings and been perked up with the addition of gourmet gift items and an Internet Café’.
Virginia will specialize in the computer technology and small business aspects of the new venture while Page will utilize her years of retail sales and marketing experience to creatively and attractively present products to patrons.
“Tucker’s on Main wants to offer something to everyone who visits”, said Virginia. “We have unique gifts and extensive book selections for all ages; excellent coffees roasted by Dilworth Coffee; a variety of other beverages including homemade hot chocolate, Chai teas and a large assortment of cold drinks; Internet access and wireless capability; and we even have a big screen TV for sports-watching; all in all, Tucker’s on Main provides both goods and services which will appeal to the local residents as well as the tourist visiting Blowing Rock and the High Country”, she added.
In addition to its day-to-day business, Tucker’s on Main has plans to begin several on-going activities and events which will invite groups to enjoy spending time in its warm, pet-friendly environment. Virginia and Page intend to invite the Village to join a book club sponsored by Tucker’s on Main and will extend an invitation to other existing area book clubs to use its cozy shop as their meeting space. Also, Page will soon implement “Tucker Time”, a weekend leisure interest time for children which will include reading and hands-on activities – many of which will be returned to the village to augment local groups’ projects.
“We are both very involved in the community and we want to invite the community to be involved with us”, said Page. “Virginia and I hope that “Tucker’s on Main” will soon become a household name in Blowing Rock and that patrons who come in to enjoy its brew, books, bits and bytes will find it as comfortable as home, “ she added.
Tucker’s on Main is open 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. everyday of the week. For additional information, contact Virginia or Page at 828.295.4231.
