Artist Teresa Pennington Sharpens Up For The Blue Ridge Parkway’s 75th Anniversary
Former Blowing Rock artist and merchant, Teresa Pennington, has begun the production of four original works which will ultimately benefit the Blue Ridge Parkway. As part of the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation’s licensing program for the 75th Anniversary of the Blue Ridge Parkway in 2010, Ms. Pennington has been named one of several official artists. “I am doing one original work for the next four years (she started in 2006) which will be used in a series of reproductions whose sale will support programs and projects of the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation. “Teresa has used the sale of Parkway themed works before to support us,” said Houck Medford, the Foundation’s executive director. “We are still receiving income for work that she produced more than five years ago; she is extremely popular”. Ms. Pennington is producing four original landscapes from four overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the next four years. Her first is from Waterrock Knob, south of Waynesville. She is pictured above with an incomplete rendition of the Parkway view at the recent Our State Magazine Weekend at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville. Artists interested in the “official artist” program for the Blue Ridge Parkway should contact the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation , 336-721-0260, or foundation@brpfoundation.org.
