Ms. Brady
Glenda J. Brady, age 71, of Conover and Blowing Rock, N.C. passed away Saturday, January 6 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Ms. Brady was born February 9, 1935 in Catawba County, a daughter of the late harvey Clinton and pauline Troutman Brady. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Concord, N.C. and attended Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blowing Rock where she was a loyal and devoted member of the Rumple Choir.
Ms. Brady was a graduate of the Woman’s College of Greensboro and the University of Pennsylvania. She had worked at the Western Carolina Center in Morganton, N.C. for over thirty-five years, starting as the Director of Physical Therapy and retiring as the Outreach Physical Therapist.
She is survived by two sisters, and brothers-in-law, Janice & Don Langston of Lexington, Kentucky and Ann and Dr. William Holt of Conover, N.C.; Nieces and Nephews, Andra Gyor, Donald Langston, II, Leigha Langston, Jonathan Holt, Paul Holt, William D. Holt and Anne Elizabeth Holt; and eight great Nieces and Nephews.
A service of remembrance was held on Monday, January 8, 2007 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover, North Carolina. The Reverend Donald Oldenburg officiated with interment following in Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory, N.C.

Mrs. Carmichael
Mrs. Reeda Wood Carmichael, age 79, of Blowing Rock, North Carolina, formerly of Keystone Heights, Florida, died Monday evening, January 8, 2007, at Glenbridge Health Care in Boone, North Carolina.
Mrs. Carmichael was born February 3, 1927 in Plant City, Florida, a daughter of the late John and Grace Rice Wood. She was a retired bookkeeper for the city of Jacksonville, and a member of Keystone Heights United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Carmichael is survived by one daughter, Terry Sumner and husband Rodney of Blowing Rock, North Carolina; one son, Timothy D. Carmichael and wife Lori of Keystone Heights, Florida; one sister, Virginia Miley and husband Odell of Lakeland, Florida; two granddaughters, Amy Smiley of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Wendy Insley of Blowing Rock, and two grandsons, Clint Carmichael of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Jeffery Carmichael of Keystone Heights. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Carmichael, and one brother, Vernon Wood.
Funeral services for Mrs. Reeda Wood Carmichael will be conducted Saturday afternoon, January 13, 2007, at 3:00 o'clock, at Keystone Heights United Methodist Church in Keystone Heights, Florida. Officiating will be the Reverend Thomas Gensel. Interment will follow in the Keystone Heights Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock, at Moring Funeral Home in Melrose, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to High Country Health Hospice, 136 Furman Road, Boone, North Carolina, 28607.

Mrs. Dunne
Pauline (Polly) B. Dunne, age 90, of Terry Acres Circle in Blowing Rock, died Tuesday, January 2.
Mrs. Dunne was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 30, 1916, a daughter of the late Dr. Charles Matthews and Lucilla Middleton Barnwell.
Growing up in Atlanta, Mrs. Dunne graduated from North Avenue Presbyterian School and later from Duke University in Durham, where she received a degree in psychology. Following graduation, she moved on to work for the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio. Following her retirement from employment with the Air Force she moved to Blowing Rock.
Mrs. Dunne had many interests and remained active with community affairs and volunteer work until her unexpected death. She especially enjoyed training and participating in Elderhostel and the Institute of Senior Scholars. She was a member of MENSA and the Tri Delta Sorority.
Mrs. Dunne is survived by a brother, James M. Barnwell of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, four nieces and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Dr. Charles M. Barnwell, Jr., and her husband, Frederic J. Dunne.
At her request, her body was donated to the Duke University Medical School in Durham.
A memorial services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Dunne was held today, Thursday, January 11 at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, 3098 St. Anne’s Lane NW, Atlanta, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a favorite charity of the donor’s choice.

Mr. Neill
Harry Danby Neill, age 90, a former resident of Blowing Rock, died Thursday, January 4th at his home in Vero Beach, Florida.
Mr. Neill was born October 29th, 1916 in Brooklyn, New York, and moved to Vero Beach from Blowing Rock. He was a M aster Sergeant in the United States Army and served in World War II in China, Burma and India. He was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation, China Liberation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He attended New York University, University of Maine and New York Institute of Finance.
He was president of Harry D. Neill, Inc., a successful commercial Real Estate and Mortgage Company in Winter Park, Florida. At his death he was a member of American Legion Post 286 in Blowing Rock.
Mr. Neill is survived by five children, Laurie Veltri of Sarasota, Florida, Wendy Reese of Pctaluma, California, Stephanie Maunder of Ozark, Arkansas, Robert Neill of Maitland, Florida and John Neill of Sarasota; one brother, John V. Neill of Alexandria, Virginia; three stepchildren, Suzanne, Billy and David deFee; and seven grandchildren, Ann Hegney, Traccy Boylston, Caroline Boylston, Tonya Smith, Tara Bills, Taylor Veltri, and Jason McKinnish.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty B. Neill.
Private family services were held, with interment in Blowing Rock.
As Mr. Neill said many times, “what a wonderful life I’ve had. It couldn’t have been better. My beloved wife, Betty, and I are together again.”
