Stage Company Adds Extra Show Performance To Meet Increased Fan Interest For The Taffetas
The Blowing Rock Stage Company announced this week that one additional performance of The Taffetas has been added to their 20th anniversary season, a change in schedules to meet fan demand for tickets. The additional performance will take place on Thursday, June 23rd at 2 p.m. (There is also an 8 p.m. show that day.)
The Taffetas is a musical by Rick Lewis that tells the story of four singing sisters making their television debut. Set in the 1950's, The Taffetas features a score of all hit 1950's songs. Stage Company veteran Douglas Kampsen will return to direct the hit musical. Douglas directed A Dash of Rosemary for Blowing Rock Stage Company last year, and appeared on stage in My Way and the World Premiere of Crossroads, where he played The Cowboy.
The Taffetas opens on June 9th, signaling the 20th year of professional theatre in the North Carolina High Country. Blowing Rock Stage Company came to Blowing Rock in 1985 as The North Carolina Stage Company at Blowing Rock. Following the twenty-performance of The Taffetas on June 26th, the Stage Company will present the most famous work from the pen of Neil Simon. Lost in Yonkers plays June 30 through July 17th.
The Bully Pulpit brings to life Teddy Roosevelt in a Michael O'Smith comedy that opens July 21 through August 7th.
The main stage season closes with the smash hit musical Honky Tonk Angels (August 11-September 4).
In between the four main stage productions is a host of other special programs, including the hit series New Voices of the South.
Tickets are on sale by calling the BRSC box office at 295-9627 or by checking out www.blowingrockstage.com.
The Taffetas is sponsored by Jenkins Realtors and High Country Media.
