Rotarian Virginia Vanstory Receives Multiple Paul Harris Fellow Pin

Virginia Vanstory was recognized this week as a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International at the Monday meeting of the Rotary Club of Blowing Rock at Chetola's Manor House Restaurant.
The prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship honor is named for Paul Harris, who founded Rotary with three business associates 100 years ago in Chicago. Since then Rotary has grown to an organization of 1,219,532 members in 31,936 clubs in 166 countries.
The Fellowship honor was established in 1957 to express appreciation for a contribution of $1,000 to the humanitarian and educational programs of The Rotary Foundation. These programs include an array of projects that save and invigorate the lives of people around the world to enhance international friendship and understanding. Foundation programs provide educational opportunities, food, potable water, health care, immunizations, and shelter for millions of persons. These activities are funded, implemented and managed by Rotarians and Rotary clubs around the globe.
In recognizing Vanstory for her support of the Rotary Foundation, having donated in excess of $2,000 to date, Club President Al Wheeler said, "We move closer to a more peaceful world today as Virginia Vanstory becomes a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow." Wheeler asked one of the club's major donors, Sabine Miller, whose giving to the Rotary Foundation has exceeded the $10,000 mark, to present Vanstory with her Multiple Paul Harris pin featuring a single sapphire stone.
President Wheeler went on to recognize "contributions of both Vanstory and Miller, to allay suffering, improving living conditions, and providing educational opportunities for young people somewhere in the world."
"This is truly a selfless action," he said.
