Scarlet Davis has been appointed assistant superintendent for auxiliary services and testing for the Watauga County Schools effective July 1. The appointment was approved by the Board of Education at their June 9 meeting.
Ms. Davis will be the first person to occupy the new position, which was created earlier this year as part of a reorganization in the central office of the Watauga County Schools. She comes to Watauga County from her current position as program specialist for local assessment with the Winston Salem/Forsyth County Schools.
Her previous experience includes several years as the director of testing and accountability, Title I services, textbooks, and instructional technology for the Newton-Conover Schools. She has also held other positions involving the application of technology in school settings and she has teaching experience in both elementary and middle school grades.
Ms. Davis earned a master’s degree in educational media/instructional technology from Appalachian State University and completed her bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Wake Forest University. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in educational leadership at Appalachian State. Ms. Davis has obtained National Board Certification, the highest professional credential available in the teaching profession.
